AUTOSAVE Periodically save the contents of the ...

AUTOSAVE period save the contents of the workspace to a file.
AUTOSAVE(filename, PERIOD) saves the contents of the base workspace to the file FILENAME every PERIOD seconds. If PERIOD is omitted, it defaults to 60 seconds. If FILENAME is omitted, it defaults to autosave. mat.
It is possible to specify which variables to save. To do this create a cell array in the base workspace with the name 'autosavelist'. Each cell should be a string containing the name of the variable to be saved. Example: 'autosavelist = {'var1', 'var2'}; '.
To stop the autosaver, use the command:
autosave -quit
